Hike through this slot canyon located just outside of Cedar City, Utah.
Due to the popularity of this hike, permits are required to enter. Permits cost $12, and the trail is relatively short at 3.5 miles round trip. Advanced hikers can adjust their hike as necessary if they want to experience something more challenging. The hike's hardest part is navigating through the stream that comes from the runoff of two waterfalls.
Hikers may find good use from climbing equipment, but aids have been planted by previous adventurers so that additional tools are not required. From the trailhead just south of Cedar City, it is advised to take dry trails above the streams as they are much easier to follow, then wade into the water as the trail starts to fade. The slot canyon starts to narrow rather quickly during this expedition, but bringing climbing equipment is not necessary. Branches and boards have been installed to provide footing above the first waterfall and across the second. This is a unique hike that can prove to be an unforgettable experience.
