Enjoy a day offroading at the dunes.
This is a popular destination for anyone that loves offroading. A majority of these dunes are open for ATV riding. This natural phenomenon is created by the constant shifting winds funneled through the Moquith and Moccasin Mountains. The vast high-flow winds blow the Navajo fine sandstone grains through a notch of the mountains, and the wind slows once it hits the open valley. This coral pink sandstone is estimated to be around 10,000 to 15,000 years old and supports a local diverse population of insects, toads, salamanders, and amphibians.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park has been open since 1963 and is situated right off Highway 89 in Kanab, Utah. This state park features a visitor center, off-road vehicle trails, ATV tours, hiking, showers, and a day-use pavilion. If you want to stay overnight, the camping areas offer single sites, double and group sites, and other campsites with and without hookups. If you're passing through southern Utah, don't hesitate to stop by the Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
