Come and find semi-precious gemstones in Western Utah.
Whether you want to come for a short trip or enjoy a week of camping, Topaz mountain will bring you lasting memories. There are areas around the mountain that are flat for those traveling with children. These spots are great for anyone that isn't wanting to take a long hike to find topaz. Children can stay entertained for hours discovering these crystal-like rocks. Topaz Mountain has a rich desert ecosystem. Some of the wildlife that can be spotted here include pronghorn, rabbits, snakes, lizards, and horny toads.
If you seek more adventure, venture further up the mountain to find amber topaz. These haven’t turned clear from direct sunlight and shine brilliantly. If you are lucky, you may even see some red beryl, also known as red emerald. Red beryl is one of the rarest gems which can only be found in a few places in the world. Many areas at the topaz mountain are public property; therefore, it costs nothing to come and collect topaz. You also have the option to take a guided tour to dig up some topaz in small groups or by joining a public guided tour.
Keep in mind that there are no restrooms or running water for about an hour out, so come prepared. Internet service might be scarce, so it’s a good idea to bring a physical map with the locations you want to explore to avoid getting lost. There are campsites scattered around the mountain, and campfires are welcome if there are no high wind weather warnings. Come and make memories at Topaz Mountain, and bring home some topaz to show your family and friends.
