This museum is home to some of the most incredible complete dinosaur fossils and imprints that have been discovered in the US.
The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site is a place visitors can come to experience real dinosaur fossils and tracks as well as learn about these prehistoric animals that once roamed throughout the southwestern region of Utah. The remains here date back as far as 200 million years, and they were discovered in the year 2000 when Dr. Sheldon Johnson was leveling his property. What he found under the sandstone were full dinosaur foot imprints that had been thankfully very well-preserved in the rock. Dr. Johnson decided to donate the land to the city to ensure it remained protected. This is a favorite place among travelers and paleontologists to come see remarkable dinosaur remains and fossils of other prehistoric species.
This is a museum that all ages enjoy since there is so much to learn and see here. The fossils are kept inside a temperature-controlled room that makes you feel like you stepped back into Jurassic times. Special events are occasionally held here, and it is definitely a preferred spot for field trips. September through February, the site is open from 10 to 5 and is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. From March through August, it’s open from 10 to 5 and only closed on Tuesdays. Admission costs $8 for adults (18-59), $7 for seniors (60+), $4 for children (4-17), and free for anyone 3 and under.
