Visit one of the iconic haunted hotels in the abandoned town of Goldfield, California.
A nearly empty town once rich in gold mining beckons guests to feel the ghostly presence. Established in 1902, visitors of Goldfield have deemed this location the “creepiest ghost town in the West.” A population of 30,000 has dropped to just about 200 since the gold rush era. Many residents left since the gold mine exhausted its resources. There was also a flash flood in 1913 and a large fire in 1923, which further lead people away from the area.
Abandoned houses, old streetcars, and the famous Goldfield Hotel are some of the sights central to this town. Historically known as a very extravagant and upscale hotel during the gold rush era, the hotel lost business and funding after a series of deaths. One of the famous ghosts residing in the hotel is known to travelers at “The Stabber.” A cold breeze is claimed to be felt from many passerby’s on the street. Many historians, writers, and producers have documented the hotel in various documentaries and TV show featurettes to showcase what has been referred to as “gateway to another world.” The Santa Fe Motel and Saloon is one remaining business that has opened its doors to those brave enough to spend the night in the haunted Goldfield ghost town.
