Explore one of the top state parks in Wisconsin.
Copper Falls State Park is located in northwestern Wisconsin and features rivers, waterfalls, and steep canyons that create a stunning landscape. This area was formed by ancient lava flows, which spread out and created the Lake Superior basin. Copper Falls drops 29-feet and connects up to the Bad River, eventually making its way directly into Lake Superior. Hikers should start at the log footbridge for a self-guided nature trail that offers opportunities for wildlife observation. Loon Lake has a swimming beach and a small boat access area for canoes and kayaks if you want to go out on the water.
The trees that you may see include hemlock, sugar maple, white pine, red oak, aspen, cedar, and more. Hundreds of bird species live in the park, including eagles, chickadees, woodpeckers, and turkey vultures. Keep an eye out for other wildlife such as deer, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, porcupines, and black bears as you hike around. This state park is open year-round from 6 am to 11 pm. If you want an extended stay, you can make a camping reservation. Reservations can be made the same day or up to 11 months in advance. Visit Wisconsin's scenic state park and hike to its gorgeous waterfalls with your friends and family.
