This wildlife park offers a wide array of wonderful activities for everyone to enjoy and the opportunity to get close looks at native animal species.
Wildlife Prairie Park, located in Peoria, Illinois, is somewhere you definitely do not want to miss out on when you’re in the state. The park is comprised of 1,800 acres and over 150 different animals that either were or currently are native to the region. Visitors have the opportunity to experience animals like otters, wolves, bison, elk, eagles, and black bears in a unique and unforgettable way. Wildlife Prairie Park also has a lodge and space for various events that wow guests with the incredible natural surroundings and amazing animal species. The park values the conservation of these important animals and aims to educate all that come about the significance of the different species and why preserving their ecosystems is so vital.
The park has a variety of exciting recreational activities that all guests can take part in. Some of these activities include hiking the 1.5-mile wooded animal trail or the other 25 miles of well-kept nature trails, where you’ll have the chance to see animals in their natural habitats, the Prairie Zephyr Train, which is a relaxing way to experience the grounds, disc golf, taking the sculpture walk to see the 30 different art pieces that the park founders collected over the years, kayaking in the 5 lakes on the property, and fishing for bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill. The park is open every day from 9 until 6:30, and admission costs $9 for those aged 13 and up, $7 for seniors (65+), $6 for ages 3-12, and free for those 2 and under during the summer months (spring through October). In the winter (November until spring), admission is $8 for ages 13 and up, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children 3-12.
