This zoo has animals from all over the world and maintains the mission of educating the public about these incredible species as well as how we can help conserve them and their environments.
The Peoria Zoo, found in Peoria, Illinois, is a lovely zoo with the mission to create connections that inspire visitors to protect and appreciate our beautiful natural world. The zoo is comprised of six different exhibits that include “Africa!,” “Asian Trail,” “Australia Walk-About,” the “Tropics Building,” “Conservation Center,” and “Contact Barn.” Visitors will get the chance to be up-close-and-personal with a wide range of animals, such as the white rhinoceros, colobus monkey, giraffe, zebra, chinchilla, wallaby, Galapagos tortoise, burrowing owl, and emu – with plenty of others to discover.
The Peoria Zoo offers a variety of different programs, classes, and events throughout the year to help make animal education and conservation as fun and interesting as possible for all. They also have special behind-the-scenes tours and daily presentations where guests can ask zookeepers their burning questions about the topic at hand, whether it be about alligator snapping turtles or spider monkeys! The zoo is open every day from 10 until 5, with admission costing $10.50 for ages 13 and up, $9.50 for seniors (65+) and active military, $7.50 for children 2-12, and free for children 1 and under.
