The Memphis Zoo has a number of exciting animal exhibits for the entire family to enjoy and learn from.
If you’re looking for an exciting and fun way to spend a day in Memphis, you don’t want to miss out on the incredible Memphis Zoo. A great time for both adults and young ones, the Memphis Zoo was established over 100 years ago in 1906 and is home to more than 500 different species and 3,500 animals. Some of the animals you’ll find at this zoo include but are not limited to elephants, polar bears, tigers, hippopotamuses, giraffes, and an array of reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic life. There are various programs available at the zoo during special hours for children, such as the Nature Program, the Zoo Stroll, and Twilight Tours, and during the winter months, there is a special event called Zoo Lights that is put together for guests to enjoy.
A visit to the Memphis Zoo is a great way to spend a beautiful day outside and to learn about so many unique and intriguing wildlife species. There are a few dining options located throughout the zoo, as well as a stand that serves ice cream and other sweet treats that is open seasonally. Admission into the zoo is $21 for those aged 12 and up, $20 for senior citizens, $16 for children between 2 and 11 from Monday to Thursday, and each of these prices is increased by $2 Friday through Sunday. There are also membership packages available for those that intend to visit numerous times throughout the year. The zoo is open from 9-6 in the spring and summer, and 9-5 in the fall and winter seasons. The Memphis Zoo is the perfect place to come explore, play, and learn with the whole family.
