Fontainebleau State Park is located in southern Louisiana on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. This park encompasses nearly 3,000 acres and was once a sugar plantation in the 1800s owned by Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, founder of Mandeville, Louisiana. Guests who visit Fontainebleau State Park can enjoy bird watching, sailing, biking, camping, swimming, and other outdoor recreation during their stay. A 1.25-mile nature trail provides an easy stroll through the park and the 4.8-mile hiking trail allows hikers and bikers opportunities to view wildlife and natural surroundings.
Seasonal events such as guided nature hikes are provided year-round at this state park. If you want to extend your stay, you can book a campsite here. Camping reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance. Park admission is $3 per person except for children ages 0 to 3 and seniors ages 62 and up. The gates open daily at 6 am and close at 10 pm. If you're in southeastern Louisiana, be sure to stop by Fontainebleau State Park.
