Discover the rich history of mining in the western United States.
The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is located off Interstate 25, just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It encompasses a large campus (27 acres) and features historic buildings and exhibits, offering fun and educational experiences for the whole family. One of the prominent places here is the Reynolds Ranch House, which is on Colorado's register of historic properties. Be sure to stop by the blacksmith shop to see a demonstration of how they crafted tools back in the day.
Hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Panning for gold and guided tours are included in the price of admission, but note that tours take place at 10 am and 1 pm. Tickets to this museum are $12 for adults, $8 for students, $6 for children (ages 4 to 12), and free for children ages 0 to 3.
