Spend time at Colorado's top-rated state park.
Eldorado Canyon State Park is located just south of Boulder, Colorado. This scenic area is ideal for avid hikers, mountain bikers, and experienced rock climbers. There are several different climbing routes to choose from, but they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wildlife that you may see in remote areas of the park include black bears, mule deers, bats, golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, wild turkeys, and more. Anglers can fish along South Boulder Creek. The most common fish you may catch include rainbow trout, longnose dace, brown trout, longnose suckers, and brook trout.
This state park is open daily from sunrise to sunset all year long. A Colorado State Parks pass is required for all visitors. It is usually packed to capacity during all weekends from May to September, so arrive as early as possible if you're visiting during the summer months. Camping is not allowed here, but there are several campgrounds within an hour of Eldorado Canyon State Park if you wish to extend your stay. This mountainous landscape provides plenty of space for a picnic or daytime outing with friends and family.
