Enjoy spending time at the shady campsites near Iowa's Brule Creek.
The Union Grove State Park has lots of shade and nice camping areas. There are 25 campsites plus 4 horse campsites available. The area is great for horseback riding, hiking, and biking. Explore miles of trails through the forest along Brule Creek and stop to observe native birds that nest here. This state park is quiet and the campsites and bathroom facilities are up to date and clean. Visitors may see deer, wild turkeys, beavers, and other small animals during their visit. Birdwatchers will enjoy seeing many species, including cardinals, orioles, grosbeak, warblers, red-winged blackbirds, bluejays, and pheasants.
Over four miles of multi-use trails are perfect for horses and mountain bikers. The hiking trail is for foot traffic only and is 1.2-miles long. Enjoy the picnic areas if you're here for a day trip. It has covered tables and fire pits. The park is pet-friendly, and there is a nice playground where kids can get their energy out. Don’t miss the trail to Parkview Hill overlook. Visitors have oven seen hawks soaring. Recreational hunting is allowed in the park from October 1st - April 30th. Union Grove State Park is an ideal place to go camping and avoid crowds.
