Tour this incredible cavern in the Great Smoky Mountains.
The Tuckaleechee Caverns are situated in the Great Smoky Mountains and are estimated to be about 20 to 30 million years old. The cave officially opened to the public in 1953 and is just one of the 10,000 known caves in Tennessee. There is a big room inside the cavern; it is so big that you could nearly fit an entire football stadium inside. On the other side of the cavern, you can see Silver Falls, the tallest subterranean waterfall in the eastern United States. This double waterfall is 210-feet tall, but only the lower section of the falls is totally visible.
Daily operating hours are 10 am to 6 pm from April through October, and 10 am to 5 pm in March and November. The caverns are closed from December through February. Admission rates are $22 (ages 12+) and $10 for kids (ages 5-11). If you love sightseeing and are visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, don't hesitate to explore the Tuckaleechee Caverns.
