The Seven Islands State Birding Park is about 20 miles east of Knoxville, Tennessee. It encompasses 416-acres of land along the French Broad River. This natural habitat is home to over 190 species of birds. The park features approximately 8 miles of trails where you can spot numerous migratory birds. Seven Islands also provides informational interpretive signs where you can read about the species and patterns of various birds.
Bring a pair of binoculars with you and keep an eye out for Bald Eagles, Eastern Screech Owls, and Wild Turkeys, commonly found in the grasslands and marshes of this park. Seven Islands also has a boat launch available for visitors to go kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding. You can also get an excellent view of the Great Smoky Mountains off in the distance. Anglers can head to the river to catch crappie, bass, and bluegill. If you're planning to see Great Smoky Mountains National Park, be sure to visit the Seven Islands State Birding Park as well.
