The Ijams Nature Center is a 300-acre nature preserve in Knoxville, Tennessee. You’ll have the chance to discover an array of habitats here, such as meadows, forests, wetlands, and streams. Some of the wildlife that calls Ijams home includes river otters, snapping turtles, various species of bats, and barred owls. There is also an education center here where guests can learn about the important ecosystems at Ijams and participate in fun programs!
There are plenty of ways to enjoy your time spent at Ijams Nature Center. You can hike or bike along the 12+ miles that wind through the preserve, kayak down the Tennessee River, cool off with a swim in Mead’s Quarry Lake, or even rock climb! Ijams is certainly an outdoor lover’s dream, and you’ll undoubtedly have a wonderful time enjoying all it has to offer. The preserve is open every single day from 8 am until dusk.
