Take a side trip to this nature trail in the Great Smoky Mountains.
The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Expect to see a rushing mountain stream, waterfalls, and beautiful forests along this 5.5-mile trail. This nature trail also features old log cabins, grist mills, and other historic buildings along the way, beginning at the Noah "Bud" Ogle farmstead. If you care to venture further, the trailheads for Rainbow Falls (just beyond the farmstead) and Grotto Falls (Trillium Gap Trail) are accessible from the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. If you're not keen on hiking, you can drive to stop number 15 to see the place of a thousand drips.
Anyone visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park should not miss out on the Roaring Fork Nature Trail. Stop by the Cherokee Orchard entrance to the park if you want to visit. Be aware that trailers, RVs, and buses are not allowed to drive along this route. Pack a cooler with snacks; there is no turning back once you start going down this Motor Nature Trail.
