Learn about Joe Jackson, an American baseball legend.
The Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum is located in Greenville, South Carolina. Joseph Jefferson Jackson was born in 1887 and was nicknamed "shoeless Joe" during his baseball career. He gained the nickname because he used to play ball in his socks due to his sore heel. Joe's position was an outfielder, and he was part of Major League Baseball for twelve years during the early 1900s. This museum has been open since 2008 and is housed inside Joe's old home, which he and his wife built in 1940.
Admission is free for all ages, but they always accept donations if you want to help contribute to a non-profit organization. Regular museum hours are Thursday through Monday from 11 am to 7 pm. Baseball lovers of all ages will enjoy visiting the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum. Be sure to take a picture next to the life-sized Shoeless Joe Jackson statue in front of Fluor Field before leaving Greenville.
