Escape to the mountains and enjoy hiking, bird watching, and fishing in South Carolina.
Jones Gap State Park is located in northwestern South Carolina. Featuring over 4,000 acres of land, this is an awe-inspiring mountainous landscape that is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Anglers can enjoy spending time along the Middle Saluda River, where you will find trout, crappie, bream, bass, and catfish. Please note that a South Carolina fishing license is required, and you must use artificial lures and flies.
If you're an avid hiker, you will enjoy the difficult but scenic hike to Rainbow Falls (about 4.5-miles round-trip). Other waterfalls you can visit include Falls Creek Falls, Jones Gap Falls, Dargans Cascades, and Silver Steps Falls. Leashed pets that are well-behaved are welcome in most outdoor areas within the park. There are over 60 miles of trails to explore, so no matter your experience level, there will be a fitting trail for all visitors. Park hours are 9 am to 9 pm daily during daylight savings time, and 9 am to 6 pm during the rest of the year. If you need to escape to the mountains, Jones Gap State Park is the place to go.
