A quaint beachfront town full of family-friendly fun all year round.
This is one of the best places to visit in Oregon. Seaside has a wonderful small-town feel to it and it has a lively tourist season during the summer months. You can do all sorts of things here like surfing, visiting the local aquarium, searching for seashells and sand dollars on the beach, going to the carousel mall with kids, or taking a nice long stroll on the Promenade.
The Promenade is often called "The Prom" by the locals and spans a whole one and a half miles with the Pacific Ocean on one side and lots of unique beach homes on the other. You can start your walk at the turnaround with the Lewis and Clark statues. These iconic statues act as a symbol of these explorer's long journeyings across the United States. The Seaside beach offers exquisite views, especially at sunset. Be sure to bring your camera along to capture some beautiful scenes along this shoreline.
You will likely find blackberry bushes on the side of the road while you find your way to the beach. These berries grow almost everywhere so be sure to try some fresh ones during the summer. If you happen to venture here during the latter end of the year, crabbing is very popular in Seaside. The 12th Avenue bridge is open year-round but the meatier crabs tend to be more abundant between September and December. Be sure to obtain a license first before you try to catch those fresh crabs. Razor clams can be found right on the beach during low tides. The maximum number you can catch every day is 15 and you also need a license to catch these. Luckily, razor clams can only go up and down in the sand. Once you find a hole, you will likely be able to find one if you keep digging a couple of times.
Be sure to check out Seaside if you want to travel to Northwestern Oregon, it is simply a tremendous tourist destination.
