Fort Stevens State Park

Explore Oregon's northwestern coast at this beautiful state park.

Fort Stevens State Park is located on a peninsula in the very northwestern corner of Oregon. History buffs and outdoor lovers alike will enjoy spending time here. Fort Stevens was built in 1865 to guard the coast of the Columbia River from Confederate boats during the Civil War. This is the only fort from the Civil War era still standing on America's west coast. Guided tours of the fort allow visitors to see authentic artillery and learn about the history of this military fort. The park is also home to the remains of the Peter Iredale Shipwreck, which occurred in 1906.  

Aside from all of the history at Fort Stevens, there are plenty of recreational activities you can do at this Oregon state park. Numerous campsites and picnic facilities are available throughout the park, and there is also a 9-hole disc golf course along the Columbia River shoreline. Biking and hiking trails provide even more opportunities to see the state park. The Coffenbury Lake Trail is a doable 2.4-mile hike leading around the peaceful lake. Fort Stevens State Park is a 4,300-acre park that is an ideal destination for visitors of all ages.
