The Baseball Hall of Fame, located in Cooperstown, New York showcases the remarkable history of the greatest moments and players in baseball. It’s said that the sport of baseball originated in Cooperstown in 1839 during the Civil War. The museum officially opened in 1939 to commemorate America’s favorite pastime. The museum contains more than 40,000 artifacts such as baseball gloves, bats, helmets, and uniforms. It’s a great way to see the progression that these things have made over the last 180 years. There are 340 inducted hall-of-famers that are honored by bronze plaques.
There is an event held every year over Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate the history of baseball and the significance of it. Whether you’re a baseball fanatic or don’t know much about the sport, everyone can have an absolute blast learning about this game’s extraordinary past and seeing the authentic relics that are displayed throughout. The Baseball Hall of Fame is open 7 days a week, 362 days a year, and has extended hours between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Entry into the museum costs $28 for adults (13-64), $22 for seniors (65+), $19 for veterans, $17 for children (7-12), and free for active military and children 6 and under.
