Stop by the visitor center to learn more about Mauna Kea. If you have four-wheel drive, you may venture up closer to the summit of Mauna Kea and take in the awe-inspiring scenery. Believe it or not, this peak is so high up that you will need to bring a winter jacket. This is one of the only places where you can see snow in Hawaii.

You can either join a tour or take a self-guided tour to experience Mauna Kea. If you can hike, it is worth the effort to reach the top. This is considered the spiritual center of the big island, and you won’t regret taking a day to explore the area.
