See Kīlauea and Mauna Loa, two of the world's most active volcanoes.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is located in the southern region of Hawaii's big island. The Kīlauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes are at the heart of the park. Crater Rim Drive passes by steam vents and the Jaggar Museum where you can see volcanology exhibits and admire the viewpoint overlooking Halema'uma'u Crater. Thick ferns mark the entrance to the Thurston Lava Tube (Nāhuku), where visitors can explore this natural wonder. There are diverse ecosystems, and the park encompasses areas at sea level up to 13,000 feet.
This US National Park is open 24/7, and it features a visitor center at the park entrance. The visitor center is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and the rangers can give you current hiking information and tell you about the volcanoes here. If you love adventure and are planning a trip to Hawaii, be sure to add Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to your itinerary.
