Explore the ancient volcano, known as the House of the Sun at this US National Park.
The Haleakalā volcano on Maui has an enormous crater and many cinder cones. At Haleakalā National Park, you will also get to see Hosmer's Grove of alien trees and native Hawaiian geese. The Kipahulu District of the park has numerous pools with freshwater fish and protects an ahupua'a, a native Hawaiian land division. This special place is part of ancient and modern Hawaiian culture. The park also cares for endangered species, some of which exist nowhere else in the world.
Discover the volcanic landscapes and sub-tropical rainforest while hiking through this incredible National Park. Wear sunscreen, insect repellant, and hiking boots so you can be prepared to hike in the park. Please dress for hot, humid weather and bring a poncho in case it rains during your visit. Be wary of flash floods and do not swim or wade in the streams. If you're visiting Maui and love to explore the outdoors, head to Haleakalā National Park.
