Enjoy a little slice of paradise on the south side of Maui, Hawaii.
Mākena State Park is located on the southern end of Maui, Hawaii, and features a 1.5 mile-long beach. This is one of the best beaches you will find in Maui, and it is an ideal area for sunbathing, snorkeling, fishing, or swimming. You can also take a two-mile hike to the top of a dormant volcano, the Pu'u Olai cinder cone. Please note that out-of-state visitors must pay an entrance fee and parking fee upon arrival. Be sure to come as early as possible because Mākena State Park is a popular place for locals and tourists all year-round.
All visitors should come prepared with sunscreen and plenty of water at this state park. They have a concession stand, restrooms, and picnic tables available, but there is no drinking water. The parking gates are open daily from 7 am to 7 pm. If you're vacationing in Maui, you won't want to miss out on Mākena State Park.
