Visit this secluded barrier island in northeastern Florida.
Little Talbot Island State Park is located in Jacksonville, Florida, near the Atlantic Coast. This is one of the few undeveloped barrier islands in Florida, and it features over five miles of beachfront and several miles of trails. Outdoor recreational activities you can do here include surfing, swimming, suntanning, beachcombing, bird watching, picnicking, fishing, hiking, and camping. The best time of year for bird watching here is the spring and early summer. Keep an eye out for piping plovers, painted buntings, red knots, and other migratory birds.
There is a 0.75-mile nature loop trail that is easy enough for young kids, and the park also has four miles of hiking trails nearby. Visitors often like to bike here too. Bikers can take the paved Park Drive Ticumuan Trail or the more adventurous Dune Ridge Trail and explore different regions of the park. This Florida state park is open year-round from 8 am to sunset. Visitors can reserve one of 36 campsites if they want an extended stay. All campsites have 20 and 30-amp electricity hookups, water, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Campground amenities include bathhouses, a laundry facility, restrooms, a playground, and a dump station. If you're looking for a beautiful place to enjoy the beach in northern Florida, head to Little Talbot Island State Park.
