Spend time in this freshwater spring by tubing down the river.
Rock Springs at Kelly Park is located in Apopka, Florida. If you’re searching for the perfect place to spend a blazing summer day, look no further. You will walk down a short boardwalk through the shade of many pine and oak trees to then discover the bright turquoise colored water bubbling up from the springhead at Rock Springs. The water stays at a cool 68 degrees year-round. One of the most popular things to do while at Kelly Park is to either bring or rent a tube for $7, head over to the springhead, and float down the river-which takes about 30-45 minutes. When the run is finished, you will end up in a large natural pool after your relaxing float where you can either swim as much as your heart desires, lay out on the vast grassy area to catch some rays, or circle back around again to begin another tube journey. Keep an eye out for turtles and otters in the water here, as well!
Within Kelly Park there are also hiking trails that span about 7 miles, over 25 campsites, and loads of picnic tables available. Although Kelly Park does not currently offer kayak or canoe rentals, you are able to launch your own at Camp Joy within Kelly Park. Admission into Rock Springs at Kelly Park is $3 per vehicle. You will want to make sure to arrive well before the park opens at 8 AM, for it is almost certain that a line of cars will already be waiting to get in and enjoy a gorgeous day at this spring.
