Lightner Museum

This museum is situated within the historic Hotel Alcazar, which was built by railroad mogul Henry Flagler.

The Lightner Museum is located in the heart of St. Augustine, Florida. It was originally built in 1888 by Henry Flagler and later became a museum dedicated to local history. The museum is found within the historic Hotel Alcazar and offers visitors a look into the fantastic art, architecture, and design of this Gilded Age establishment.  The Lightner Museum is an interesting place to visit because it has so much history behind it. The museum is situated within 3 of the floors of the Alcazar Museum. The first floor hosts the Victorian Science and Industry Room displays, which includes a variety of rocks, shells, and Native American artifacts. There’s also a music room on this floor that has instruments that date back to the 1870s. The second floor of the museum is where you’ll find Victorian art glass and stained glass. The third floor is the ballroom’s upper balcony and holds magnificent paintings, sculptures, and furniture.
