Located on Oregon's rugged south coast, Harris Beach is a breathtaking area to soak in the sights and sounds of nature. The park features several trails and miles of sandy beaches with rocky outcroppings. Within the day-use area, you can have a picnic on the beach and enjoy views of the sea stacks dotting the ocean, including the largest island off the Oregon coast. Bird Island, also known as Goat Island, is a National Wildlife Sanctuary, and it is a breeding site for rare birds such as the tufted puffin. The island offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities.
If you're visiting in the winter or spring, keep your eyes peeled for gray whales. You may also see harbor seals, California sea lions, and sea birds year-round. Anyone that enjoys camping can reserve a camping spot up to 30 days in advance at Harris Beach State Park. Full RV hookups, tents, and even a few yurts are available.
