Enjoy a quiet camping trip in northern New Mexico.
Cimarron Canyon State Park is located just east of the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway in northern New Mexico. Outdoor activities you can do here include hiking, horseback riding, camping, fly fishing, picnicking, and bird watching. Please note that rock climbing is prohibited in this state park. Common bird species that inhabit the area include wild turkeys, great blue herons, red-tailed hawks, hairy woodpeckers, Stellar's jays, yellow warblers, dark-eyed juncos, mountain chickadees, and more.
This state park is situated right along the Cimarron River and has three different campgrounds, the Tolby Campground being closest to the Park Office. There are also two day-use areas and four angler parking areas where guests who want to fish can park for free. Keep in mind that all anglers must have current New Mexico fishing licenses to go fishing here. If you love camping and hiking in the great outdoors, check out this New Mexico state park.
