C & D Canal Museum

The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Museum is the place to come to learn all about the history associated with the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal and the functions it has served over the years. The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal helps connect the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware River, and it has ended up being one of only two commercially important sea-level canals in the US. This museum can be found in Chesapeake City, Maryland, which is a quaint coastal town that serves as a perfect stop if you’re driving along the Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway. During the 19^th and early 20^th centuries, the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal helped provide necessary means of navigation between Maryland and Delaware.

The C & D Canal Museum tells the interesting story of how this 14-mile-long canal was constructed way back when, as well as the impact it still has on the region today. The C & D Canal Museum is open from 7-3:30 from Monday to Friday, 11-4, on Saturday, and 9-5 on Sunday.
