Enjoy an interactive rainforest habitat that is the largest butterfly conservatory in America.
Butterfly Wonderland houses thousands of butterflies in an indoor conservatory that is a lush, tropical paradise. Thousands of butterflies from around the world live in a rainforest paradise as well as Koi fish, tropical finches, and two chickens. The butterflies fly freely throughout the conservatory, landing on visitors, sipping nectar from the flowers, and more. The Butterfly Emergence Gallery allows visitors to watch butterflies surface from the chrysalis and fly into the conservatory. There is a 3D theater that teaches about the life of the butterfly as they "jump" off the screen in the short film "Flight of the Butterflies." The film shows the monarch migration and how caterpillars emerge from their chrysalis naturally.
Rainforest Reptiles features amphibians and reptiles from exotic locales all around the world. Also featured are the spectacular creatures from above and below the forest floor such as the Orchid Mantids, scorpions that glow, a giant bird-eater, the Goliath tarantula, and many other fascinating specimens. The Honey Bee Extravaganza is buzzing with activity. It features honeybees hard at work collecting nectar and pollen from the native desert plants and gardens all over Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Spineless Giants exhibit has the world's largest arthropods from moths and butterflies to millipedes and walking sticks. As you tour the Butterfly Wonderland, you can stop by an edible insects station where you can snack on bug treats from the vending machines. Some of these snacks include chips made with cricket protein, chocolate-covered ants, coconut brittle mealworms, and scorpion lollypops. You should also see the Tropical Waters of the World and discover underwater treasures from the tropical oceans, rivers, and lakes. If you love nature and want to see butterflies up close, you won't want to miss out on the Butterfly Wonderland.
