Visit the largest firefighting museum that commemorates fallen firefighter heroes.
The Hall of Flame Fire Museum's goal is to preserve historical firefighting equipment that has been used around the world. George F. Getz Jr. opened the original Hall of Flame Museum in 1961 in Wisconsin, beginning with his private collection of artifacts. In 1974, the collection was moved to Phoenix. The museum has more than 10,000 pieces of fire equipment dating between 1725 and 1969. There are fire suits, tools, 130 wheeled vehicles, and extinguishers. Several artifacts come from international countries and honor firefighting traditions from America, England, France, Austria, Germany, and Japan.
You will also see the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes listing all fallen firefighters since 1981, including a display honoring the heroes of 9/11. Another neat area is the 2,000 square foot exhibit with hands-on activities to help children learn about fire safety. The All of Flame Fire Museum has five large exhibit galleries with hand & horse-drawn fire vehicles and collections of patches, helmets, and art graphics. If you enjoy learning, be sure to visit this firefighting museum the next time you're in Phoenix.
