Hike to captivating waterfalls in the serene Tennessee wilderness.
Burgess Falls State Park is just outside of Cookeville, Tennessee. This park features four different waterfalls, which are all accessible from the 1.2-mile hike along the River Trail. The waterfalls only get bigger and more fascinating the longer you hike, and Falling Water River created these natural waterfalls. Starting with the first waterfall on the trail, you will see Cascades Falls (20 feet high), Upper Falls (30 feet high), Middle Falls (80 feet high), then the Lower of Burgess Falls (over 130 feet high). Hikers of all ages should wear sturdy boots.
Bird watching is another fun activity you can do here. Keep an eye out for herons on the water and various songbirds in the trees. This park is open daily from 8 am until 30 minutes before sunset. Please note that the park closes when the river is high or when there is snow. Bring your camera with you to capture the memories at this beautiful state park.
