A scenic hike that is pet friendly and beautiful all year round.
Rock City Gardens is located on Lookout Mountain in Georgia. It has been open since 1932 and is a popular tourist destination. You have to pay to get in, but it is worth it for the gorgeous views you get to experience. The hike itself is very well maintained and has lots of wildlife such as birds and trees plus other shrubberies to look at. Once you hike further up, you can see lots of different rock formations. It is said that at the top you can see mountains and high points of 7 surrounding states on this hike including Tennessee, Alabama, and North Carolina. The high points from states that are further out of view are Kentucky, Virginia, and South Carolina. There is also a gorgeous 90-foot waterfall that can’t be beaten. At night during the holidays, you can take a sunset hike to the top and enjoy the stunning Christmas lights shining in the town below.
For the most part, it is not a strenuous hike. It is a loop trail that is only half a mile long and it is a good trail fit for hikers of any skill level. This trail also features the Fairyland Caverns that are fun to explore along the way. Since you take a self-guided tour, you can take as much or as little time here as you want. There is also a cafe and gift shop at the bottom of the trail where you can eat and pick out some souvenirs. If you happen to be in Chattanooga, Tennesse, this place is close by and worth the visit. You can come in daily from 8:30 am to 4 pm. The evening hours Monday through Thursday are 5 to 9 and Friday through Sunday you can go there even longer from 5 to 10 pm.
