Visit this unique art center in the small town of Lucas, Kansas.
The population of Lucas averages around 400 people. Here, you will find the Grassroots Art Center, which is essentially a museum filled with various art pieces and creations, well outside the realms of what you might find in a typical art museum. Nearby the art center is the Giant Toilet, also known as the Bowl Plaza. The area where the piece is built is completely void of any restrooms, which inspired this artwork.
Bowl Plaza Isn't just a 14-foot tall art piece depicting a toilet. Inside, you'll also find 2 restrooms. Each restroom was created to reflect its respective gender; however, the creators have stated that it is an art piece; therefore, you can use whichever room you'd like, regardless of gender. The "boy's" room depicts ships, sports, and cars. If you go inside the "girl's" room, it depicts flowers, dolls, and animals. The center of the art piece is a mosaic of various objects that one might find in a toilet, such as keys, a fish, or even a dog sipping from off to the side. For a piece of art that's found in the middle of nowhere, the Giant Toilet stands as a great place to stop and visit.
