Boot Hill Museum is located in Dodge City, Kansas, and is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Sundays, the museum is open from 1 pm to 5 pm. Boot Hill Museum began as a community service project that was part of an individual's basement. Today, visitors who come will see the recreation of an old western town come to life. The vast collections include over 60,000 objects, such as photos, documents, buildings, and more. All artifacts and buildings date from 1870-1920. The Boot Hill Museum experience is unique and family-friendly. It is here to preserve the history of Dodge City while providing educational opportunities, exhibits, live entertainment, special events, and more.
History is brought to life back when Native Americans populated the area until the Sante Fe settlers came and made the city into what it is now. Visitors should plan to spend an average of two hours for self interpretive tours. Live shows, including the traditional Long Branch Variety Show and a live staged gunfight, are presented daily. The Long Branch Variety Show is a recreation of the original shows of its day, such as singing, dancing from the showgirls, skits, acted stories, and more. Guests may also stay for a country-style dinner and witness an exciting reenactment of a shoot-out on the old Front Street.
Visitors can purchase the Deputy Pass tickets at the door. The Deputy Pass is a general ticket that will grant access to all exhibits, buildings, tours, and more. The Marshal Pass tickets provide access to exhibits, buildings, tours, events, live shows, dinner, gunfights, and more. The Marshal Pass requires reservations online and is non-refundable. A gift shop is also located on-site and sells old fashion candy, soda, and treats. Other items available for purchase include apparel, history books, apparel, shot glasses, kid toy guns, and more.
