The Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park is located off Interstate 80 in western Nebraska. William F. Cody, known as Buffalo Bill was a pony express rider and army scout. He was born in 1846 and served in the American Civil War. His house and barn have been restored and feature many original clothes and memorabilia. Buffalo Bill raised cattle and stallions on his 4,000-acre ranch, which he built using the money he raised by doing his famous wild west shows.
You will see Buffalo Bill's mansion (built in 1886) and the big red barn on site. This historical park is open daily for self-guided tours during the regular tourist season (end of May through Labor Day) from 9 am to 5 pm. The park grounds are open year-round from 8 am to sunset. Admission is less than $5 per person and children ages 0 to 2 can enter for free. If you're traveling through Nebraska, this family-friendly attraction is a great place to explore.
