Play at this beloved park in northern Alabama.
Big Spring International Park is located off of Interstate 565 in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. It features a natural spring, lots of green space, and an iconic red Japanese bridge. Many visitors enjoy relaxing and feeding ducks at Big Spring. The Indian Creek Canal runs through the park and connects the spring to the Tennessee River. This canal was completed in 1830 and it was originally constructed to ease the transportation of cotton exports.
This place is called an international park because it has things from different countries, including a park bench from the UK, a German sundial, and several Japanese cherry trees. During the holiday season, hundreds of park trees are lit up. You can follow the Big Spring International Park Tinsel Trail from dusk to midnight beginning on Black Friday through New Years Day. This seasonal activity is free to the public and is a great way to experience holiday cheer. No matter when you visit, if you love taking strolls, be sure to spend time in this park the next time you're in Huntsville, Alabama.
