Monte Sano State Park is located in Huntsville, Alabama. In Spanish, the term Monte Sano means mountains of health, and it truly is a perfect place for a mountain escape. There are campsites and cabins available by reservation only. The cabins are equipped with kitchens, fireplaces, tv, grills, picnic tables and offer gorgeous sights. With over 2,000 acres of land, Monte Sano State Park has lots of places to explore. There are 20 miles of hiking trails and 14 miles of biking trails, perfect for outdoor lovers.
Please note that day use fees apply to all visitors (except children 3 and under) who come to the state park. Along with hiking and mountain biking, visitors can play on the disc golf course, explore the Japanese garden, or have a picnic at the park. A prime area for bird watching is the Japanese garden. The garden hosts two annual festivals on the first Sunday in May and the first Sunday in October, so be prepared for larger crowds during these times. If you love the great outdoors, you'll have a wonderful time at this state park in Alabama.
