Tour a restored mining camp and see a 400-pound quartz crystal in person.
The World Museum of Mining is a great place to gain insight into Montana's mining industry. Visitors can see a restored mining camp featuring historical mining relics and over three-dozen historical buildings. This museum is located in Butte, Montana, and takes you back in time when silver, zinc, and copper mining was a way of life. Visitors are welcome to tour the camp and participate in tours to see the underground mines.
Admission to the World Museum of Mining is very affordable and is valid for 2 consecutive days. However, it is only open Tuesdays through Saturdays during the warmer months. Some of the highlights to look for include the Orphan Girl, a winding tower located at the head of the mineshaft. While you’re here, stop by the mineral and rock room exhibit that displays over 1,300 mineral specimens ranging from fluorescent minerals to a 400-pound quartz crystal. There is also the Copper King Mansion you can tour nearby.
