Visit this ghost town that is sure to wow you.
Virginia City is an old mining ghost town in Montana. It was known for being the richest gold mining town in the Rocky Mountains. This town gave Montana great pride, so they made Virginia City a historical marker and have strived to keep this ghost town “alive.” You will get a sense of the old West when the gold rush was booming. There are various activities and shows to see in this town as well as historic houses and shops that have been preserved since the 1960s.
Stop by one of the saloons to enjoy the Western vibe, and visit the photo shop to take a keepsake photograph. There are horse-drawn wagon rides offered if you want to take a ride around town and learn more about the town's history. This will bring you the real-life stories that you wouldn’t hear otherwise. There is also a train ride from Virginia City to Nevada City to experience how the people traveled here in the 1960s and 1970s. Feel free to stay overnight if you want to explore the area more and take a day trip to Nevada City and the Lewis and Clark Caverns. This is a trip worth taking and will not disappoint!
