Hike to this easily accessible natural arch in southern Utah.
The Wilson Arch is a sandstone arch located just off Highway 191 between Moab and Monticello, Utah (about 24 miles outside of Moab). It spans 91 feet and is 46 feet tall. The arch was named after Joe Wilson, a pioneer settler who built a cabin in nearby Dry Valley. This natural landmark is very visible from the highway, but if you'd like a closer look, there is a turn off on the highway where you can park and hike directly up to the archway.
It is free to hike to Wilson Arch, and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch with them. Admire how wind, water, and time have eroded this beautiful sandstone arch once you reach the top of the trail. If you are an avid rock climber, you can also bring your gear and rappel down the arch. No matter the season, always bring sunscreen and plenty of water with you during your visit to Wilson Arch.
