See the original Cochise County courthouse and learn about life in the Old West.
The Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park features a two-story courthouse, which was constructed in 1882. This building features a red brick exterior, and it served as a county facility until 1931. The first floor was restored in 1956, and today, visitors can learn about the history of Tombstone going back to the native inhabitants through the 20th century. There are several displays about local mining, ranching, historical businesses, residents that lived in the area, plus newspaper articles about labor rights and significant court cases.
Don't miss out on the exhibit room devoted to Wyatt Earp and the OK Corral shoot-out. You can listen to a detailed shot-by-shot account of his infamous fight and view items that belonged to those involved in that event. The courtroom appears as it did in the 1800s, and you will walk in the footsteps of notable cowboys while visiting this historic site. Just outside, visitors can view the gallows exhibit and see what the judicial system was like back in the day. Before you go, have a bite to eat at the restaurant.
