Sonoita Creek State Natural Area is located off Arizona State Highway 82, about 50 miles south of Tucson. It encompasses nearly 5,000 acres and is south of Patagonia Lake State Park. Visitors pay Sonoita Creek park entrance fees at the Patagonia Lake State Park entrance station. Popular outdoor activities here include horseback riding, backcountry camping, hiking, swimming, hanging out on the beach, bird watching, and wildlife observation. Feel free to explore 20 miles of hiking trails or eight miles of horseback riding trails.
Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy the rough rocks, steep slopes, and amazing waterfalls on the trails. Most of the trails are relatively remote, so the opportunities to view wildlife are endless. Explore the desert oasis known as Sonoita Creek State Natural Area the next time you're traveling through Arizona.
