Picacho Peak State Park is located off I-10, about halfway between Tucson and Phoenix. This place is open year-round, and many visitors enjoy hiking up the peak. Picacho Peak is 1,500 feet high and features breathtaking views. Take the Hunter Trail if you're an avid hiker; it is about a 4-mile round-trip strenuous hike. Picacho Peak State Park features 3,747 acres of space for hiking, rock climbing, and camping. The park's amenities include a playground, picnic areas, ramadas, grills, a dump station, restrooms, and showers.
Picacho Peak State Park has been seen by the Spanish explorers, gold miners traveling west, and Civil War combatants. The only Civil War battle that happened in Arizona happened at the Battle of Picacho Pass on April 15, 1862. Every year, the park has a re-enactment to commemorate the battle of Picacho Pass.
