This national museum is filled with information regarding all the events of the Civil War. You won't find any other Civil War Museum that goes more in-depth about the war depicting stories from both the Union and Confederate sides. Guests are free to do a self-guided tour of this facility. Be sure to take your time looking at all the dioramas to gain deeper insight into the American Civil War. Most people spend at least a couple of hours here, so plan accordingly.

It is best to begin on the second floor of the museum. This is where it talks about the beginning of the war, has a display of weaponry and equipment, plus a battle map. The museum is open year-round, but hours vary depending on the season. Bus and RV parking spots are available on-site, but they are limited and overnight parking is strictly prohibited.
