Brookside Gardens is located above Washington, D.C. in Wheaton, Maryland. It encompasses 50 acres and includes several areas such as the azalea garden, butterfly garden, rose garden, maple terrace, children's garden, aquatic garden, and more. This place has two conservatories with tropical plants and works to maintain over 20,000 flowers and plants throughout the outdoor garden. The garden is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and the visitor center is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm.
Please note that picnicking and sports equipment like frisbees are not allowed at Brookside Gardens. Every year, they have a holiday event called Garden of Lights, which happens even when it rains or snows. This outdoor walk-through experience is half a mile long and features neat light displays throughout the garden. Brookside Gardens offers many other events throughout the year as well, including the Wings of Fancy live exhibit, workshops, tai chi, symposiums, and guided hikes.
