Stand in awe of one of America's founding fathers at this memorial.
The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is located near the southern end of the Tidal Basin in the heart of Washington, D.C. Thomas Jefferson was one of the founding fathers, and he authored the Declaration of Independence. This memorial features a 19-foot bronze statue of the man himself (made by Rudulph Evans) inside an open-air structure supported by over two dozen columns. The monument is mainly constructed out of marble, and there are several inscriptions on the interior walls with excerpts from Jefferson's writings, which correlate with his firm views on freedom.
This memorial building was dedicated in 1943 and was designed to be in direct line with the White House. If you're visiting Washington, D.C., you won't regret stopping by the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. This historic attraction is open to the public 24/7, so come and pay your respects to one of the most influential leaders of the American Revolution.
